“Broad Leaved Bottletree”
TREE TO 15 METRES TALLFast growing, hardy tree with swollen column-like trunk and a broad, shady canopy of large maple-like leaves. Clusters of white flowers are produced while the tree is leafless at the end of winter & are followed by boat-shaped seed pods to 10cm long. The seeds are edible, but are surrounded by a greasy coat & irritating hairs that must be both cleaned off first.
